It is with heavy hearts but great love and admiration that the family of Alice Walters, announce her passing from this life on March 18.
Born in Manhattan on January 1, 1920, Alice grew up in Flushing Queens Long Island NY worked for the NY Telephone Company and married the love of her life, Jim in May, 1941. Alice and Jim lived on Long Island, NY and moved to Clearwater in 1959 with their 3 children, Carolyn, Barbara and “Jimmie”.
Alice was a devout Catholic and member of St. Cecelia parish. She was a woman of beauty, strength and grace and centered her life around her family and her faith. She loved life and truly believed in the power of prayer. She had a special fondness for St. Anthony and her favorite charity was the St. Anthony Guild.
She had a contagious laugh and in her own words she was “blessed to have lived a wonderful life” cherishing family times the most.
Alice retired from the Diocese of St. Petersburg after operating the luncheon program at St. Cecelia School for over 30 years. She took great pleasure in nourishing several generations of students at the school and continued doing so working alongside her son Jim until she was 89.
Alice was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years Jim in 1988. Her grateful and loving family who will miss her presence deeply are: son, Jim Walters (Kathy) daughters Carolyn Kling (Bob Ellis) and Barbara Walters Arnold. 3 grandchildren: John Brennen Hashem (Lisa), Mark Hashem, and Breann Walters. 4 great-grandchildren: Catie Hashem, Meghan Hashem, Aevry Hashem and Natalie Grace Hashem. Step-grandson Kevin Arnold and family (Sarah, Joshua and Nathan) in England will also greatly miss her.
