Rosemary Thorn McCorkle

Mrs. MrCorkle was born on August 20, 1934 in Clearfield, PA; daughter of the late James and Gladys (Thorn) Cole.

She graduated from Clearfield High School in 1953, worked as a secretary for the Clearfield County Court House, and worked as a district manager for the Pennsylvania Lottery for over 20 years until her retirement.

Mrs. McCorkle was a member of the NON in Clearfield, member of the Clearfield-Curwensville Country Club, was an avid golfer, and most of all loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She received her grandmother’s name of “Oie” because her oldest grand-daughter couldn’t pronounce “Rosie” when her grandfather would call for her; form that point on she became “Oie” to all her grandchildren.

Survivors include four children: Marjorie Stewart and husband Cub, Kirk McCorkle and wife Cindy, Jennifer Bailey and husband Rob all of Clearfield, and Karla Mease and husband Steve of Lake Wales, FL; seven grandchildren: Krystal Bloom, Katie Bischak, Teddy Maines, Bryan Mease, Stephanie Goho, Amanda Riggleman, and Jessica McCorkle; eight great-grandchildren; three siblings, James Cole of Colorado, Stokes Cole of FL, and Sharon Lope of Clearfield; and friend of twenty years Bart Thompson of Clearfield.

Mrs. McCorkle was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Richard M. McCorkle, whom she married on June 11, 1954 and he passed away January 17, 1987; and sister, Gloria Adams.

Funeral services will be held at the Bennett and Houser Funeral Home, Inc. on Saturday, December 5, 2015 at 11:00am with C. Frederick Ralston officiating. Interment will be at Hillcrest Cemetery.

Friends will be received at the funeral home on Friday, December 4, 2015 from 6-8pm, and an additional hour of viewing on Saturday, December 5, 2015 from 10 until the hour of services.
