Mr. Cramer was born on December 30, 1922 in Clearfield, the son of Logan H. Cramer, Sr., and Thelma B. (Beightol) Cramer.
He graduated from Clearfield Area High School in 1940 and Penn State University in 1949. He was a member and quarterback of the 1939 Bison undefeated football team. He was a past member of the Red and Black Club.
Mr. Cramer retired from Kurtz Bros. in 1988.
He was a long time member of the West Side United Methodist Church of Clearfield where he was active in the Men’s Club, finance committee, delivered meals on wheels and long time usher coordinator. He served as a member of the Clearfield Borough Council, was a member of the Tuesday morning retired bowlers group, and volunteered for the American Cancer Society selling daffodils.
Mr. Cramer was active in Clearfield Little League Baseball for a number of years and served as Assistant Coach and League President. In 1999 he was inducted into the Clearfield County Region Chapter of the Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame as a meritorious achievement inductee.
He was a life member and past Exalted Ruler of the Clearfield BPOE Lodge #540 and active in the Past Exalted Ruler Association and member the Clearfield American Legion Post # 6 for 67 years.
Mr. Cramer was a United States Air Force veteran having served during World War II as a radio operator and gunner on B-25’s and A-20 bombers in the South Pacific Theatre.
He is survived by his son, Logan H. Cramer, III and his wife Marcy of Clearfield, three granddaughters; Michelle Wilson, Jennifer Campolong and husband, Robert and Lori Murphy and husband, James: six great grandchildren; Noah Rumsky, Samantha, Maxwell, and Sophia Campolong, and Jackson and Charlotte Murphy; good friend and companion, Ann Barger, and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Cramer was the last member of his generation having been preceded in death by his parents and his wife, June (Gaylor) Cramer whom he married June 18, 1947 and who passed away August 22, 1998.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 15, 2011 at 11:00 AM at West Side United Methodist Church with Rev. Dr. Joleen A. Willis officiating. Interment will be in Hillcrest Cemetery. Military Honors will be accorded at the cemetery by the Clearfield American Legion Post #6 and the VFW Post #1785 Honor Guard.
Friends will be received at the funeral home on Wednesday, December 14, 2011 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM and on Thursday from 10:00 AM until the hour of services. The Clearfield BPOE Lodge #540 will conduct a memorial service on Wednesday evening at 6:30 PM.
