John B. Martin

John Boyd Martin, 77 of Altoona died Monday, May 2, 2016 at his home. Boyd was born June 2, 1938 in Altoona, son of the late J. Willard Martin and Margaret Griffin Martin. He was married to Mary Lou Watson, she survives. He is survived by a daughter and son: Becky and husband Eric of Jacksonville Fl., and Randy and wife Donna of Altoona; six grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Boyd was a member of the Penn State and Altoona High School Alumni Associations and was an avid fan of both. He served in the US Army 2nd Armored Division Band from October 1958 through October 1960. He played for the funeral of the Lost Civil War Veteran in December 1959. He retired from the Army in 1992 with over 31 years of dedicated service. He worked for Warnaco Men’s Sportswear as a flat knitting supervisor, former owner of “THE PUB” bar in Hollidaysburg along with his wife Mary Lou and was a Real-estate agent for Parsons Agency Altoona and Watson Real-estate in Jacksonville Fl.

Family and friends will be received at the Martin home Saturday May 7th 1:00 – 3:00.
