Mr. Litz was born November 18, 1925 in Clearfield, the son of Frank S. and Martha A. (Teigen) Litz.
He retired from Kurtz Brothers as a truck driver after 33 years of service.
Mr. Litz was a Navy veteran of WWII, serving on the Sarotoga and Essex in the Pacific Theater, Hawaii.
He was a member of the Clearfield American Legion John Lewis Shade Post No. 6.
Mr. Litz enjoyed buying and restoring automobiles, telling stories and spending time with his family.
He is survived by a son, Rodney C. Litz and his wife Linda of Sandusky, OH., two daughters; Lee A. Zelensky and her husband Thomas of Wallaceton and Vicki L. Litz of Philipsburg, four grandchildren; Amy Didion, Nicki Sabo, Jamie Burton and Chloe Zelensky, five great grandchildren, a sister, Margaret O’Donnell of Clearfield and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mr. Litz was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Helen C. (Quigley) Litz whom he married on March 8, 1947 and who passed away May 13, 2011, four sisters; Betty Litz, Jean Lopresti, Mary Kelly and Annabelle Aveni and five brothers; Rex, William, Noel, Ray and Gerald Litz.
Honoring Mr. Litz’s wishes there will be no public viewing.
A Graveside Service will be held at 4:00 P.M. on Tuesday, July 8, 2014 at Hillcrest Cemetery with Rev. M. Bruce Dimmick officiating. Military honors will be accorded by the Clearfield American Legion John Lewis Shade Post No. 6 and Veterans of Foreign Wars F. Michael Sicks Post No. 1785 Honor Guard.
