Daryl was born on March 6, 1939 in Curwensville, PA to George and Helen (Golden) Heitsenrether. He graduated from Curwensville High School in 1957. He served in the Navy Reserves from 1956 to 1962. In his early years, Daryl worked at Canters 5 & 10, McGregor’s, General Motors in New Jersey, and the Coca Cola Bottling Co. He retired in 2000 from North American Refractories Company, Curwensville.
On June 8, 1963, Daryl married Nancy W. Heitsenrether at the Curwensville Methodist Church, Curwensville, PA. She preceded him in death on July 8, 2023.
Daryl is survived by three children; Brian (Donna) Heitsenrether of Clearfield, PA, Darylyn (Tim) Wallace of Clearfield, PA, and Steven (Heidi) Heitsenrether of Woodland, PA, as well as daughter-in-law, Amy Heitsenrether, of Clearfield, PA.
He is survived by one brother, Dave Heitsenrether of Curwensville, PA. He is also survived by eight grandchildren; Breana (Shawn) Burgmeier of Milan, IL, Alan “Herk” (Missy) Wallace of Port Matilda, PA, Megan (Joe) Opaliski of Clearfield, PA, Caitlin Heitsenrether and fiancé Jessica McDanel of Clearfield, PA, Ian Heitsenrether of Clearfield, PA, Cole Heitsenrether of Woodland, PA, Michael (Kayla) Woodling of Curwensville, PA and Melissa Woodling of Clearfield, PA. He had nine great-grandchildren: Alexander, Joey, Bentley, Greenley, Quinn, David, Chloe, Hunter and Willow.
Along with his parents and his wife, Daryl was preceded in death by his son, Eric John Heitsenrether and two brothers, James “Jim” Heitsenrether and Robert “Bob” Heitsenrether.
Daryl loved visiting with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He enjoyed woodworking and gardening.
He was a member of the Clearfield Alliance Church, Clearfield, PA where he served as Sunday school teacher, elder, and head trustee.
A viewing will be held Saturday, June 1, 2024 from 10:00 AM until the hour of services at 12:00 Noon at the Clearfield Alliance Church. Pastor Hiram Westover will officiate the ceremony. Military Honors will be accorded at the church by the Clearfield Honor Guard. Interment will be in Bradford Cemetery, Woodland.
