Born in Clearfield on June 17, 1941, he was the son of Guy Leslie and Evelyn Josephine (Raymond) Bloom.
He was a graduate of Clearfield Area High School, class of 1959.
On May 25, 1969 he wed the former Judith A. Krolick in Grassflat.
He served his country in the Army Reserves.
Blaine retired from the Pennsylvania State University, State College, where he was employed for 25 years working in food service and housing.
He was a parishioner of St. Francis of Assisi Roman Catholic Church, where he was a former Eucharistic Minister and Lector. He also volunteered at St. Francis School where Blaine enjoyed catering numerous banquets, spaghetti suppers, soup suppers and fish dinners.
He was a member of the Teamsters Local 8, Knights of Columbus Council 409 and the American Legion Post 437.
Farming and cooking were not only hobbies of Blaine’s, but a passion. He was also a great conversationalist.
Blaine is survived by three children; Michael E. Bloom and his wife Tara L. of Canandaigua, NY, John B. Bloom and his wife Penny L. of Clearfield and Monica A. of South Carolina. Blaine also has five grandchildren; Jenna Fields, Zachary Rougeux, John B. Bloom II, Kira Bloom and Ethan Bloom as well as five great-grandchildren. He is also survived by one brother, Raymond Bloom and his wife Rose of Clearfield, numerous nieces and nephews and his close friend and caretaker, Cynthia “Maxine” Woodring of Philipsburg.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, five half-siblings, one uncle and two aunts.
Friends will be received at the Bennett and Houser Funeral Home, Inc., 312 E. Locust St., Clearfield, PA on Thursday, September 15, 2022 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM.
A Memorial Mass will be said at 10:00 AM on Friday, September 16, 2022 at St. Francis of Assisi Roman Catholic Church, Clearfield with the Very Rev. Robert Horgas, V.F. as celebrant. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery with military honors accorded by the Clearfield Honor Guard.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to either the American Cancer Society, 108R N. 2nd Street, Suite 1 B, Clearfield, PA 16830 or the charity of the donor’s choice.
