Walter grew up in Raleigh, NC and following his high school graduation he enlisted in the military. Walter served in the Navy Seabees, where he became a Vietnam veteran. Succeeding his service, he
continued his career as a dedicated electrician for over 50 years. He loved working on and fixing up lawn mowers, spending time tinkering on other projects, and spending time with his family.
Walter is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Faye Ellis Ray. Along with his daughters, Markie Ray Leftwich (Cherrisa) of Dallas, TX and Wendy Ray Phillips of Clayton, NC. A granddaughter, Taylor Phillips of Hubert, NC and two great-grandchildren, Weston and Blakely Phillips. He also leaves behind his brother, Bobby Caudle (Tami) of Garner, NC. As well as several special nephews, nieces, and family members.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Marion R. Caudle.
There will be no services at this time.
