Robert Adams Henderson

Robert “Bob” Adams Henderson, age 85, of Clayton, North Carolina, was called to his heavenly home on Sunday, March 31, 2024. Born in Lewiston, Maine on June 11, 1938, he was the son to the late Ernest Edmond Henderson and Marjorie Adams Henderson.

Bob graduated from Edward Little High School, class of 1956, in Auburn, Maine. He proudly served in the US Air Force from June 1956 thru August 1965, reaching the rank of Airman 1st Class. After his discharge, Bob was employed by Warren Distributing Corporation in Raleigh, NC for over 30 years. In his younger days he loved to work on cars, changing the oil, and performing routine maintenance. He enjoyed being outdoors in the sunshine!

Bob loved his family dearly and told them often. Not a day passed without him telling his wife of almost 65 years that he loved her. He was highly regarded and well thought of by friends, church family, neighbors, and anyone who knew him. His family and friends remember his great sense of humor. Bob’s favorite foods were Moon Pies, doughnuts, and chocolate. His family often joked that sweets should be a required food group.

Bob was a faithful member of Hocutt Baptist Church, in Clayton, NC.

His daily prayer and greatest desire were for each of his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren to know Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior. Bob’s last breath on earth was followed by his first breath in heaven. Finally face-to-face with Jesus, his Savior.

A funeral service will be held in the chapel of McLaurin Funeral Home at 11:00 AM on Friday, April 5, 2024. The family will receive friends from 10:00-11:00 AM. Burial will follow at Pinecrest Memorial Park.

Surviving is his loving wife, Mattie Edwards Henderson, Son, David Mitchell Henderson, Daughters, Karen Shinn (Syd) and Julie Spatola (Eric), 15 grandchildren, and 8 great grandchildren.
