Mr. Raymond T. Payne

A celebration of his life will be held from 11:00 am until 5:00 PM Saturday, June 10, 2023 at the Archer Lodge Community Center, 14009 Buffalo Road, Archer Lodge, North Carolina. Inurnment will be held privately.

He was born in Washington, DC on October 4, 1941 to the late George L. Payne and the late Evelyn Lambert Payne. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of fifty-five years, Roberta Taylor Payne; his older brother, Donald; and daughter-in-law, Paula Payne.

Mr. Payne retired as a field engineer with PEPCO after forty-four years of service. He was involved with various organizations – the American Legion, The Lions Club, and the Archer Lodge Community Center. In his free time, he enjoyed coaching and watching his children and grandchildren at the ball fields. He rarely missed an event and was always their biggest fan.

He is survived by his three children, Susan Locklear (husband, Hearbert), Andy Payne, and Christopher Payne; grandchildren, Mikaela, Cameron, Bryce, Caleb, Katie and Saige; great granddaughter, Harper; and brother, Johnny (wife, Cindy).
