Born on March 31, 1959 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, he was raised overlooking the city in Mount Washington by his late parents, Bernard and Mary (Gannon) Fox. Michael was the beloved husband of Donna (Wilk) Fox for 39 years; loving daddy to Tara, Micaela “Mia”, Lianna, and Noah. He is survived by his dear sister Eileen (Bill) Marshall of Pittsburgh. Also survived by two nieces, brother-in-law David (Karen) Wilk and sister-in-law Debra Wilk, other friends and family from Pittsburgh, and many friends in NC. Preceded in death by nephew Billy Marshall and in-laws Thomas and Mary Wilk.
Throughout his life, Michael was a devoted dad, driving his four children to dance classes, band practices, and the many other activities they were involved in. He always volunteered helping with dance recitals, marching band, guard, and drum corps competitions. He was ready to do whatever was needed of him, whether it was working in a hot concession stand, moving heavy equipment, or driving long distances. No matter what it took, his giving spirit was ready to run an errand or help out and he was happy to be with everyone.
After working 25 years in Pittsburgh, Michael moved his family to Clayton, North Carolina seeking sunnier weather and new adventures. He tremendously enjoyed his job supporting and developing software programs for electronic data transmissions as a software engineer. He enjoyed meeting people while working in the stadiums for the Pittsburgh Steelers and NC State Wolfpack. Michael never met a stranger. He could make conversation with anyone. His sense of humor and stubbornness either left you laughing along with him or shaking your head.
Michael loved unwinding by watching a good tv show and sitting in his favorite chair with his three dogs, Winnie, Bella, and Maisie. He had a love of chocolate and sweets that his three daughters inherited. He was the best friend to his son, and together they enjoyed bonding as the only men in the house. Michael was always up for a car ride and designated himself as the official driver for family drives. He will be loved and missed dearly by his family as his presence was so strong.
