John William Anthony Duffy age 78, formerly of Sparta, NJ and residing in Wendell NC, passed away on Monday, June 24, 2024, surrounded by his loving wife, children and grandchildren. Born in Jersey City, NJ on August 3, 1945, he was the son of the late Anna and Frank Duffy. John was the former Warden of the Bergen County Jail in Hackensack NJ. He especially enjoyed being with his family and taking trips to the Outer Banks of NC, was an avid fan of Notre Dame, NY Mets and the NY Giants. He was a doting and generous husband, father and grandfather. John is the beloved husband of 55 years to MaryAnn Weber Duffy, devoted father of Colleen Duffy, Sean Duffy and his wife Sharon, Kelley Ewing and her husband Michael. A loving grandfather to Alexa, Kyle, Nolan, Connor, and Kelsey, and dear brother of Grace Sarbok and the late Frank Duffy.
The family will welcome their close friends and relatives with a visitation for John on Monday, July 1, 2024 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at McLaurin Funeral Home in Clayton, NC, followed by a memorial service at 2:00 PM.
