James "Jim" Donald Poindexter

Jim was born in Asheville, NC to the late Robert T. Poindexter and Helen B. Poindexter on June 18, 1953. He went to school at John T. Hoggard High School in Wilmington, NC.

He worked as a Code Enforcement Officer for the Town of Clayton. He served in the Navy.

He was involved in the Clayton K-9 Unit and the Clayton Volunteer Fire Department.

Jim is preceded in death by his father Robert T. Poindexter and his mother Helen B. Poindexter.

Jim is survived by his sister, Ann P. Bruton, of Rocky Mount, NC and brother, Robert T. Poindexter of Wilmington, NC.

In lieu of flowers the family request memorial contributions may be made to the Clayton Police Department K-9 Unit, Johnston County Sheriff’s Department K-9 Unit or the Clayton Fire Department.

The family of Jim wishes to extend our sincere thanks to the Clayton Police Department and the Clayton Fire Department.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 am Saturday, October 7th, 2017 at McLaurin Funeral Home with visitation to follow. Arrangements are by
