Clayton, NC Mr. George R. Barefoot, 70, of Clayton died Friday evening, June 26, 2015 at his home. He was born August 10, 1944 in Harnett County, son of the late George and Alice Tart Barefoot. Mr. Barefoot retired from the N.C. Department of Corrections in 1997 as a Lieutenant after 30 years of service. He was a lifelong member of The Way of Life Baptist Church. A funeral service will be held Monday June 29, 2015 at 2:00 P.M. at The Way of Life Baptist Church in Clayton with Pastor Scott Tucker and Pastor L.E. Godwin, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in Pinecrest Memorial Gardens. He is survived by his wife, Judith Barefoot, a daughter, Tiffany K. Barefoot of Dunn, a brother, James Robert Barefoot of Clayton, three aunts, Irene Barefoot, Irene Penny and Spicey Strickland all of Dunn, several cousins and two nieces. The family will receive friends Sunday, June 28, 2015 from 6:30 – 8:30 P.M. at McLaurin Funeral Home in Clayton.
