Edna Boykin Hinnant

Visitation will be on Saturday, September, 22nd from 1:30-2:30pm at Johnston Union Church in Clayton where she was a member. Funeral services will follow at 2:30pm. Burial will be at Knollwood Memorial Park in Clayton after the services.

Edna was a native of Johnston County. She was born to Brodie B. Boykin and Hersie Johnson on February 24, 1924. Edna is preceded in death by her parents, husbands: Moses Godwin, Daniel Wallace and Winfred Hinnant, sisters: Maxine Olive, Elva Lee Johnson (twin sister) Mildred Price, Margaret Boykin, Masilene Green, Joyce Johnson, and one brother, Thomas Boykin.

After retiring from Big Star Stores, Edna enjoyed gardening and spending time with family and friends. She lived faithfully and fully. She did not know a stranger. If you came across her path she had a smile and kind words.

She is survived by her Children: Bobby H. Godwin (Paulette) of Garner, Lynda Wylie Gurkin of Raleigh, Jimmy T. Godwin, Sr. of Middlesex, Rhonda Moseley (Rob) of Raleigh, 9 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and 17 great-great-grandchildren, 13 nieces and nephews.

In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Johnston Union Church, 3575 Old US Hwy 70, Clayton, NC 27520. Arrangements are by McLaurin Funeral Home in Clayton.
