Cory Christopher Daker, age 49, passed away on Tuesday, January 9, 2024. Cory, a die-hard golfer, was born in Aurora, IL on January 22, 1974, and worked as a real estate broker. Cory loved being outdoors and spending time with his family, he was the state wrestling champion in 1990 and 1991 and also served as the Clayton High School Wrestling Coach from 2008 – 2016. In 2015 and 2016 he was named Coach of the Year. Cory also served in the US Army from 1993 -1996.
He is survived by his wife of 12 years, Amy Daker; sons, Brayden Daker and Rylan Daker; daughter, Paisley Daker; mother and step father, Bonnie and Jerry Wills of Rocky Mount, MO; father and step mother, Thomas and Marianne Daker of Oswego, IL; brothers, Shane Daker and his wife, Darcey of Morton, IL, Mark Daker and his wife Mary, of Alpharetta, GA, Brian Daker and his wife, Jacquie of Plainfield, IL, Jeff Daker and his wife, Joy of Washington, DC and Michael Daker and his wife, Molly of Apex; and 8 amazing nephews and nieces.
A memorial service celebrating Cory’s life will be held on Wednesday, January 17. 2024 at 2:00pm in the chapel of McLaurin Funeral Home with the family receiving friends immediately following the service in the funeral home lobby.
