Clarence Roger Reams, 62, of Middlesex unexpectedly went to be with the Lord on Monday, April 22. Born October 18, 1961, Roger was the son of the late Bill and Frances Buck Reams. Roger was greeted in heaven by his beloved daughter, Holly Frances Reams, his parents, grandparents, loving in-laws, Junior and Appie Worley Johnson, aunts, uncles, cousins, and many dear friends. Roger grew up in the country in the Clayton area. He often talked about the good ol’ days of barning tobacco, helping his daddy with cattle, and his momma and little sister, Sue, in the garden. He learned the value of hard work from his parents and grandparents. In high school, Roger worked at Food Town Groceries and drove a school bus, which is how he met the love of his life, Teresa. What started as bus driver friends, ended up being a lifelong journey of love. Roger went into construction, where he worked his way up to achieving his dream of owning his and Teresa’s own construction company, Garrett Building Corporation. Over 40 years, Roger built a lot of buildings, but it was helping his clients achieve their goals and dreams that he enjoyed most. Majority of those clients became dear friends, as did the many graders, electricians, plumbers, etc. that were involved in each project.
He always considered his immediate Garrett Building Family to be his sons and brothers. Roger loved his girls, Robin and Holly, dearly. He was a wonderful Daddy, passing on his value of hard work, honesty, and a passion to serve God with all your heart. Roger was a devoted Carolina Tar Heel fan, enjoyed fishing and hunting with his buddies, watching car races, Blue Grass music, and spending time with his family. He loved going to the Blue Ridge Mountains and the thrill of catching a fighting fish. Most importantly, he loved our Lord Jesus Christ, and has witnessed to so many.
Roger leaves his loving wife of nearly 40 years, Teresa Johnson Reams, beloved daughter, Robin Elizabeth Reams both of Middlesex; his sister and brother-in-law, Sue and Herman Mitchiner of Clayton; his sisters-in-law and brothers-in law, Gail and Ronnie Ezzell of Spring Hope, Pam and Guy Lampe of Smithfield; his nieces and nephews, Alison and Bill Kilpatrick with sons Will and Parker, Mia and Chris Richard with children Sophia, Levi, and Nash, Mollie and Matt Parrish with children Dottie and Henry, Laney Ezzell, RJ Ezzell, Katherine Lampe, and Guy Lampe, Jr. Roger leaves cherished memories with his extended family, his Garrett Building Family, and dear friends.
Teresa, Robin, and family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm, Friday, April 26, 2024, at Stony Hill Free Will Baptist Church located at 9649 Stoney Hill Church Rd., Middlesex, NC. The family will also receive friends on Saturday, April 27, 2024, at McLaurin Funeral Home in Clayton from 11:00am to 1:00pm. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 27, 2024, at 1:30pm in the chapel of McLaurin Funeral Home with the committal service following at Pinecrest Memorial Park in Clayton.
While flowers are appreciated, memorial contributions may be made to a charity close to Roger’s heart, the Free Will Baptist Children’s Home, P.O. Box 249, Middlesex, NC 27557 or a charity of your choice in his memory.
