Carol Marshall Carl

A funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Monday, July 29, 2024 in the chapel of McLaurin Funeral Home with Reverend Sherrie VanderVeen officiating. Burial will follow at Pinecrest Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM at the funeral home, prior to the service.

Carol was born in Hackensack, New Jersey on November 17, 1943 to the late James Laird Marshall and the late Gertrude Hendrickson Marshall. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister Linda Jean Marshall Bohnel.

Carol, with her husband Rusty and their two children, resided in Midland Park, NJ. She was a retired Home Economics teacher at the Eisenhower Junior High School in Wyckoff, NJ. She was a lifelong member of the Old Paramus Reformed Church in Ridgewood, NJ. As her family grew Carol’s activities grew with them. She served for many years as the Girl Scout Cookie Coordinator for her daughter’s troop and a Den Mother for her son’s Cub Scout Pack; participated in AFS and MPHS Music parents organizations. After moving to Clayton, NC she became a member of Horne United Methodist Church where she was active in groups like the JOY club. She enjoyed spending time renovating and decorating her home, sewing, gardening, traveling and taking care of her family and friends.

She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Russell Roy Carl, Jr.; her children, Catherine Leigh Carl Besel and Timothy Joseph Besel of Clayton, NC and Christopher Marshall Carl and Bethany Kristen Lavoie Carl of Marlton, NJ; her grandchildren, Samantha Rose Besel Wells and John Thomas Wells, Benjamin Marshall Carl, Josephine Marie Besel, Abigail Margaret Carl, and Timothy Russell Carl;
