Betty Westbrook Steedly, age 83, of Newport, passed away on Monday, December 16, 2024. Betty was born in Sampson County on February 26, 1941, to the late Ilee and Lola Ellen Strickland Westbrook. Betty loved a good conversation with her coffee and sweets, spending time at the beach and shopping.
She is survived by her son, Timmy Steedly of Jacksonville; daughter, Lisa Briel and her husband, Ed of Newport; sisters, Carrie Godwin of Dunn and Georgia McClenny of Roanoke Rapids; grandchildren, Jessica Steedly, Jordan Steedly, Justin Steedly and Eddie Briel; great grandchildren, Liana Steedly, Emmi Steedly and Avery Briel.
In addition to her parents, Betty is preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Steedly, brothers, Carl Ray Westbrook and Billy Westbrook.
A funeral service for Betty will be held Saturday, December 21, 2024, at 10:30am in the chapel of McLaurin Funeral Home, Clayton. Following the funeral service will be an interment at Pinecrest Memorial Park, Clayton.
