Edith Jeanette Walker

Edith J. Walker was born February 18, 1940 in Raleigh, NC as Edith J. Baucom. Edith was one of twelve children born to William Clarence Baucom and Etta Viola Helms. She came to California in the late 1950’s for her brother’s wedding (Melvin Baucom to Janice Baker) and met/married Robert Raymond Baker. Robert and Edith divorced in the early 70’s after having three children (Darren, Melissa and Greg).

Edith departed this world to be with her heavenly Father on March 21, 2024 while in hospice care at home. She was met in heaven by the love of her life Clifford Joseph Walker (who passed September 6, 2022). Edith and Joe married on March 6, 1975, and were married nearly 47 years prior to his death, she missed him each-and-every day.

Edith is survived by her three children Darren Baker, Melissa Garner and Greg Baker along with 6 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Edith was an amazing cook and cooked/baked her entire adult life as her career and ultimately retired from a state cafeteria. She frequently prepared meals for church events and missionary dinners. Edith enjoyed working in her yard and growing her own vegetables. Edith and Joe enjoyed traveling by ship, their favorite destinations were Alaska and the Panama Canal. They had hoped to enjoy one last trip together (delayed by COVID) but their health did not hold out.

A service to celebrate the life of Edith Walker will be held on May 10,2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Horizon Christian Fellowship Assembly of God located at 1300 South River Road, unit # 135 West Sacramento, CA. 95691. A reception with light refreshments will be served following the celebration of life.
