It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Laken Marie Garrett. She was a beloved wife, daughter, and friend, who left us September 28th, 2024 at the age of 31 after a hard fight with cancer. Laken was a kind and compassionate soul, known for her warm smile and unwavering love for her family, friends, and pets.
Laken was born September 11th, 1993 in Athens Ohio to Rebecca Freer and William Wolf. Laken graduated from Nelsonville-York High School in 2013. While she attended school, one of her favorite activities was band, where she played the saxophone. She is survived by her devoted husband, Raymond Garrett, who was her partner in life and love for 13 years. Together, they built a beautiful life and shared countless cherished memories. Laken was a beloved sister to Brandon (Audra) Wolf, and sister Makayla Wolf. A cherished Daughter in Law to Cheryl and Roger Puckett and Sister in Law to Brittany (Chris) Garrett and aunt to Gavin Garrett. She was a treasured granddaughter to Norma Jean Fouty, Connie Stoneburner, and granddaughter in law to Myra and Howard (Jewell) Starn. Laken was also loved by her many aunts, uncles and cousins who will always remember her unique personality and her carefree spirit.
A true music lover, Laken could name any song on the radio, bringing joy to those around her with her passion for music. She enjoyed attending comic conventions, where she worked as security with her closest friends. She also had a deep appreciation for nature, finding joy in sunsets and sunrises, often capturing their beauty through her photography. Laken touched the lives of many through her work at FedEX, where she had many dear friends including Michelle (Chris) Rodriguez and Christina (Josh) Hoswell . Her kindness extended beyond her family, as she dedicated herself to her many pets.
A celebration of her life will be held on Sunday October 6th,2024 at 1:00pm at The Village Church of Buchtel (17890 N Akron Ave, Buchtel Ohio 45716). Friends and family are invited to share their memories and honor a remarkable woman who gave so much love and laughter to those around her.
Laken will be deeply missed but will forever remain in our hearts.
