Juan Buquid Lanuzga

Juan was born on October 2, 1933, in Bato, Camarines Sur, Philippines, to Severino and Irene Lanuzga. He enlisted in the United States Navy in 1950. He married Consuelo Ramos at Bato Catholic Church on January 10, 1960. They left the Philippines and settled in the United States, where they raised four children. While in the Navy, Juan served in the Vietnam War and spent 30 years serving his country in various positions. He retired as a Chief Petty Officer, working as a recruiter and counselor. After retirement, Juan took on a civilian job and worked for Sola Barnes Hindes.

Juan, always keeping his hometown in his heart, came together with Jun Pili, Joe Laut, Lino Elpedes, and Bert Ramos to found the Batoenos of Southern California to provide support to their hometown, Bato. Juan was active in the community, where he was a member of the Knights of Columbus and, later in his life, a member of the Freemasonry. Juan and his beloved wife Consuelo enjoyed the activities that being a part of these organizations provided. When Consuelo passed in 2011, Juan lived quietly, spending six months in Bato, Camarines Sur, and six months in the United States. While in Bato, Juan was taken care of by Maria Theresa Esteves Lanuzga his adopted granddaughter.

Juan is survived by his children: Jonas Lanuzga and his wife Jovie, Jayne Lanuzga, Joan and her husband Edwin Borgonia, John Lanuzga, William Conrad Keil; and his grandchildren Jadin Zoe Evalani Keil and Alysha Kristine Borgonia.

A viewing will be held at the Funeraria Del Angel in Chula Vista, California, on January 9, 2025, from

4 PM to 10 PM. The final resting place will be at Miramar National Cemetery on January 10 at 10:00

AM, where he will be laid to rest together with his beloved wife Consuelo.
