Benjamin A. Franklin was born November 1, 1948, to Homer and Minnie Franklin. He was the sixth of eleven children. Ben laid down his earthly obligations to rest until he stands before his heavenly Father. He is heaven’s gain and his family and friends’ deepest loss. Ben was taught the Word of God by his parents and was baptized into the body of Christ. At that time, he took it to heart to live a dedicated Christian life.
Ben received his education from San Diego Unified School District, where he graduated from Lincoln High School in 1968. Ben continued his education and earned his Associates of Art Degree from San Diego City College in the field of Auto Mechanics. Ben was later drafted into the United States Army during the Viet Nam War. He served his country at the U. S. Army Yuma Proving Ground and received an Honorable Discharge.
Ben worked many jobs prior to working in his trade as an auto mechanic for the City of San Diego’s Police Department. He retired after serving 28 years.
After Ben’s retirement, he spent even more time doing the Lord’s work. Ben loved teaching God’s word, preaching, singing, visiting the sick, and participating in San Diego County’s Jail Ministry Program.
