Richard Hernandez was born in Huntington Park, CA on December 20, 1970. He grew up in his parents’ home. He was the youngest of six children. There were three boys and three girls. He lived most of his young life in South Gate, CA. He attended Pacific Boulevard School in the early 80’s a school for special needs children. He then continued school at Lanterman Junior High. He then graduated from Domingan in 1993 at the age of 23. Richard was prom king and made his family very proud. He always enjoyed being with friends and family. He then worked for Oparc Regional Center for disabled adults where he worked as a paper Shredder. His hobbies included listening to music, and his favorite song was “Hit the Road Jack”.
He always was eager to wear his red shirt and got super excited when his dad bought him a new pair of white sneakers. He lived with his parents Salvador and Herminia Hernandez his entire life until his mother passed away in September of 2011. He then moved in with his sister Jackie, her husband, and her four children. Both Salvador Sr. and Richard spent the next 8 years in Ontario. On July 24th Richard became ill and passed away unexpectedly on August 14th at Pomona Valley Hospital. Richard is survived by his father Salvador Hernandez age 89, his brother Salvador Jr. and sisters Sylvia, Esther, and Jackie. Richard had a beautiful kind soul and spirit that will forever live in our hearts. We will treasure the memories of a loving, caring young man who always brought love and joy to all who had been blessed by his presence. You will be missed Mijo.
