William Boyd Hinson

Mr. William Boyd Hinson, age 82 of China Grove, passed away on Sunday, May 30, 2021 at Liberty Commons. Born on May 3, 1939 in Rowan County, Mr. Hinson was the son of the late Dewey Hinson and Mary Williams Hinson. He was educated in Rowan County Schools and was a longtime member of Lutheran Chapel Church in China Grove where he was active as an advisor for the Luther League at the church as well as former custodian. He kept up with the attendance at Sunday School and was known as the “Candy Man”, because he would hand out candy to all that wanted any.

Professionally, Mr. Hinson worked in the earlier years for Corriher Mills as a yarn packer and then went on to work for Brad Ragan Company. In his spare time, he loved to watch westerns on television.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 49 years, Belinda Sutton Hinson. He had nine brothers and sisters, as well as numerous nieces and nephews: Misty Connor (Derrick), Amy Chandler Sanders, Beth Johnson (Michael), B.J. Chandler Jr. Lynn Hinson (Debbie) and Kathy Black (Rick). He also leaves behind several great nieces and nephews.

Visitation for Mr. Hinson will be on Tuesday, June 1, 2021 from 3:00 - 4:00pm at Lutheran Chapel Church in China Grove. Funeral Service will follow at 4:00pm with Pastor John Tucker officiating. Burial will be private for the family.
