Born in Iredell County on June 26, 1960, she was the daughter of the late Claude Odell Black and Frances Lorene Gaines Black.
In addition to her parents, her companion of 28 years, Billy Ray Rice; two brothers, Nathan Black and Kenneth Black; one sister, Darlene Black and one grandchild, Zaliyah Rice, also preceded Teresa in death.
Teresa was a very kind and caring soul. She loved spending time with her family and friends. Over the years, she became “mom” to many of the neighborhood children. One of her favorite places was sitting on the front porch at a Kure Beach cottage, talking to family and watching the ocean. All that knew her will truly miss her.
Those left to cherish her memory are her sons, Billy Ray Rice, Jr. and Marcus Rice; her daughters, Tracy Ratliff (Claude), Tamara Hill (Bryson), Heather Hunter (David) and Chasity Rice.
Her brothers, David Black and Rickie Black; sisters, Kathy McClamrock, Vickie Boone and Doreen Black; her grandchildren, Matthew McCraven, Coltrane Campbell, Raven Campbell, Holley Brady, Za’niah Rice, Zidon Rice, Zadonis Rice and Azaria Hunter and one great-grandchild, Athena McCraven, also survive Teresa.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, January 3, 2024 from 12:30 PM – 1:45 PM at Linn-Honeycutt Funeral Home.
A graveside service will begin at 2:00 PM at West Lawn Memorial Park.
