Born in Cabarrus County on January 30, 1957, he was the son of the late Clyde Cornelius Kennerly and Myrl Reid Kennerly.
Richard graduated from South Rowan High School – Class of 1975 and went to Pheffier University and Wingate College, receiving his degrees in drafting.
He worked for P&E Machines in Kannapolis, R. H. Bouligny in Charlotte and PPG in Lexington.
He was strong in his faith and attended Grace Covenant Church. Richard was a talented trumpet and guitar player. He was a kindhearted man who loved deeply, cared for animals and will be missed by all who knew him.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 18 years, Lisa Michelle Roberts Kennerly; stepchildren, Britni Bowen (Paige), Kaila Howell (Dillon) and Violet Burgess; his brother, Billy Kennedy; his sister, Alice Marshall (Tim) and one step-grandchild, Nikole Bostian.
The family will receive friends Saturday, December 10, 2022 from 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM at Linn-Honeycutt Funeral Home.
The Memorial Service will begin at 11:00 AM in the Northcrest Chapel of the funeral home.
