Oscar Reid Ritchie

Mr. Oscar Reid Ritchie, 94 of Salisbury went to be with his Lord and Savior on August 11, 2017. Born on December 23, 1922 in Rowan County, he was the son of the late John Sherrill and Betty Bostian Ritchie and wife Eloise Ritchie. A native of North Carolina, Oscar served his country in the US Army during WWII. After returning home, he worked and retired from Cannon Mills. He went on to work after retirement at Salisbury Rentals and Fast Stop gas station, well into his 80’s. Oscar loved to dance. This lead him to find a special friendship in his long term dance partner and love, Helen Lefler.

He is survived by his children, Harry Ritchie (Toni), Beverly Ward (Danny) and Brenda Allman (Danny) and their families.

The body will lie in state at Linn Honeycutt Funeral Home in China Grove from 11:00 til 12:00 on Monday, with graveside service at Carolina Memorial Park at 1:00. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Rowan Hospice and Palliative Care at 720 Grove St. Salisbury, NC 28144. The care and compassion shown to Mr. Ritchie was provided with honor by Harry, Toni and granddaughter Angie in his time of need.
