Melvin Blair Deal, of Salisbury, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Tuesday, November 5, 2024 surrounded by his family. Born September 19, 1944, he was the son of the late Oscar and Margaret Deal.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters Brenda Oxendine and Denise Taylor, and nephew Noah Cameron.
Mr. Deal was a faithful member of Gospel Light Baptist Church of Salisbury, NC where he served in many ministries including: head deacon, Sunday School teacher, and faithful prayer warrior. While he was always known for being a character and making others laugh, he was always serious when it came to his love for the Lord. He could often be found sharing the gospel with those he crossed paths with. Mr. Deal ensured that everyone he talked to, even to the very last day, knew “God is good all the time!”
Mr. Melvin will be remembered as a loving husband, devoted father, proud grandfather, and devout Christian. There were many things he was proud of including his service in the military and returning to school at the age of 55 to attain his bachelor’s degree, but his greatest joy in life was his family.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 55 years, Linda Deal; son Jeff Deal; daughter Michelle Allen (Travis); grandchildren Kaitlyn White (Hunter), Avery Allen (fiancé Ashlyn Sharp), Bradley Allen (Hannah), and Wesley Allen; sister Kim Cameron (Garry); brothers-in-law Bob Oxendine, and Sheldon Taylor; As well as many other family and friends who he loved immensely.
Mr. Melvin Deal is best described by Acts 11:24 “For he was a good man, and full of the Holy Ghost and of faith: and much people was added unto the Lord.”
The family will receive friends on Saturday, November 9, 2024, from 11-12:30 at Gospel Light Baptist Church in Salisbury, NC, with a service to begin at 12:30 PM. Entombment will take place at Rowan Memorial Park.
The family requests that memorial donations be made to BEAMS Bibles (www.beamsbibles.com).
