Karen Elaine Wilhelm aged 72 passed away peacefully at her home on January 10, 2022. Born on September 20, 1949 in Rowan County, she was the daughter of Eli and Pauline Fraley Sifford. She was married to Paul Lewis Wilhelm on May 10, 1970. Karen was a graduate of East Rowan High School, class of 1967 and was an employee of the Selective Service, the V.A. Hospital and Faith Elementary School until her retirement.
She is survived by her husband Paul L. Wilhelm, her son David Wilhelm, her grandson Kyler Wilhelm, her granddaughter Mahaley Miller and her siblings; Jean Taylor, Jackie Allen, Sylvia Hardin, Jimmy Sifford, Gwen Morgan and Pamela Burris.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by eight siblings; Marcus Eli Sifford, Rebecca Belk, Janet Young, Phyllis Ervin, Yvonne Misenheimer, Franklin Sifford, Douglas Sifford and Wanda Ennis.
Karen was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, where she taught Sunday School in the Nursery Department for over thirty years.
The services for Karen will be held Thursday January 13, 2022 at 12:00 noon at St. Paul's Lutheran Church officiated by Pastor Mark Ryman and Pastor Ketchie. Visitation will be held from 11:00am till 12:00 also at the church. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
