Mrs. Bonita Lou Buckwell Miller, age 64 of Rockwell, passed away on Monday, May 24, 2021 at NOVANT-Rowan Regional Medical Center in Salisbury after fighting a courageous battle with Covid-19. Born October 30, 1956 in Spartanburg, SC, Bonita was the daughter of Betty Lou Brown Buckwell and the late Boyd Vernon Buckwell. In addition to her father, she was also preceded in death by her sister, Betina Gail Buckwell Adams. Bonita was a faithful member of Lutheran Chapel Church, but with her mother, she and Ray attended Organ Lutheran Church.
Bonita spent her amazing career as a seamstress and clothing designer along with being a dance instructor. She was well known throughout the country for her amazing work with designing and making dance costumes come to life. She also designed many beautiful wedding gowns. Her attention to detail and her eye for design, made her work astounding. She truly loved her work and took a tremendous amount of pride in each piece she produced.
In her spare time, Bonita loved camping in her motor home with her family by her side. She loved DIY projects – always having a project going on the side and enjoyed her crafts also. But most of all, Bonita was devoted to her family. She relished in the time spent with them and her precious grandchildren.
Those left to cherish her memory in addition to her mother, Betty Buckwell is her loving husband of 32 years, Raymond (Ray) Miller of the home and her daughters, Brittany Erin Markowski (John) and Brenna Ann Lang (Nathan). She also leaves behind her precious grandchildren, Belle Smith, Jordan and Peyton Markowski, Sierra Fitzsimmons, Tyler and Braelyn Lang. Let’s not forget her precious fur babies, Buck and Ziva.
Visitation for Bonita will be on Saturday, May 29, 2021 from 12:30 – 2:00pm at Linn-Honeycutt Funeral Home in China Grove.
