It is with broken hearts that we share the news of Ronald Kent Moller’s passing on April 6th, 2023. Our loving husband, father, and grandfather has returned home to our heavenly father and we are at peace knowing that he is no longer suffering in a weakened state when he loved to live so fully. He was preceded in death by his mother Deana, his father Ted, and his son Lars Erik, with whom we believe he is now joyfully reunited.
Ron was a great man with a larger than life personality. More than anything, he loved his family and he treasured his wife Kristina. His presence in this world will truly be missed by all who knew him, and his influence will continue in our hearts, inspiring us all to live lives of love and faith.
Ron was born in Lethbridge on February 9th, 1942, the son of Ted Moller and Deana Evanson. Although he was an only child, he grew up surrounded by many wonderful cousins, aunts, uncles and of course two adoring parents, who made his childhood in Alberta happy and full of adventure. During those formative years he loved riding horses, racing cars, going to dances, fishing, hunting and performing music with two different groups (Ron played the trombone and the accordion).
From 1961-1964 Ron served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, preaching the Gospel in Sweden, the home of his ancestors. This is where he met the love of his life Kristina, who he eventually married and brought back to Canada. Together they had five children, Shauna, Heidi, Lars Erik, Jason and Jenneka.
Ron received a bachelor's degree from Utah State University and a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Saskatchewan. He was a member of only the third class of veterinarians to graduate from the Western College of Veterinary Medicine. In 1971 he moved his young family to White Rock, BC to start his own practice, the White Rock Veterinary Hospital, which he steered with great care and success until his retirement in 2007. Through the years, thousands of beloved animals benefited from his care and expertise. Ron had a passion for companion animal surgery, especially orthopedic surgery.
Ron was known by those he worked with as being warm-hearted, gentle, and calm even in the most stressful situations. These traits made him beloved by his colleagues, staff, and clients and gave him the great ability to calm and connect with the animals he cared for. Ron always approached situations with joy and humour, which lightened an often challenging and heavy career. He was fortunate to find a career that he truly loved and that love inspired his granddaughter, Raven, who is currently studying at his alma mater, to be a veterinarian just like her grandpa/farfar.
An avid camper, hiker, skier, fisherman and sailer, Ron was passionate about the outdoors and shared that love with his family and friends. He also enjoyed bow hunting, shooting, and riding his motorcycle. Whether in his home or truck, he always owned a cutting edge stereo system and listened to many genres of music. Road trips with the family were filled with Abba, country western, rock, et cetera, blaring from the speakers and everyone singing their hearts out.
The king of dad jokes, Ron was always trying to get people to laugh. But there was also a depth of wisdom beneath the humour. He loved the quote by Theodore Roosavelt which inspires us to take chances in life because, “...even if he fails, at least fails while daring greatly, so that his place shall never be with those cold and timid souls who know neither victory nor defeat.” He loved old western movies and books, and owned and read everything Louis L'amour wrote. Cowboy boots were his favorite footwear and he was a cowboy at heart.
Ron spent many years working as a scout master in the boy scouts and venturers, heading up countless excursions and camps throughout Canada and the United States. Off and on for 40 years, he served in the scouting program in one form or another, the highlight being when his own sons Erik and Jason were the right age to participate.
Ron served in many callings within the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and even completed a second mission as a family history specialist. In recent years he served as the branch president in Hope, BC and had a positive impact on the greater community there. Along with the generous people of Hope, he helped feed many families through the Thanksgiving food drive which he spearheaded. In all of his callings, he led with love, kindness, patience and example. It goes without saying that he loved his Heavenly Father and his Savior Jesus Christ and dedicated his life to them through being a good citizen and devoted family man.
As someone passionate about family history, Ron made it a point to write down the story of his life which is full of many fascinating facts and hilarious anecdotes - too many to list. This record has already been a great blessing to his family. To put it simply, Ron was a wonderful man and he had a beautiful life. But the tale isn’t over.

As per Ron’s wishes, a graveside service will be held for family members on Saturday, April 15 at the Mountain View cemetery, in Hope BC.
Survived by his wife Kristina, children: Shauna, Heidi (Shawn), Cindy (Pat), Jason (Saana), Jenneka (Chris), grandchildren: Isaiah, Gabriel, Aidan, Lily, Raven (Ryley), Sofia, Samuel (Naomi), Phoenix, Elijah, Aksu, Selma, Matias, and Tomas.
