Nick Berkis

Gonies Crete, Greece. He lost his long battle with Leukemia on October 16, 2024, in Chilliwack British Columbia.

He left Greece as a young man to travel, and during his adventures abroad he learned the art of cooking. He settled in Canada in 1972, where he put his love of food and skill to good use. Nick gained employment by the Sahamis family, who became a second family, and for the next 35 years, any customer frequenting; Olympic Flame, New Yorker or any of the three Greek Islands restaurants had the unique pleasure of

enjoying his craft.

Nick was predeceased by his parents Aikaterini and Haralampos, his sister Fotia (Maria) and his love Marion whom he met in 1978 and later married.

He is survived by his three stepchildren, whom he had helped raise for the last 45 years, John (Amy),

Christine, and Amy (Dallas), grandchildren; Sydney, Nolan, Aiden, Kendall, Sadie and Jenna, as well as his brother Monolis, nieces; Aikaterini and Maria, his brothers’ grandchildren; Alexandros, Emmanouela D, Markos, and Emmanouela K, as well as his long time friends Robert Campbell and Thomas Colovos. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

A funeral service for Nick will be held Thursday, December 19, 2024 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Henderson's Funeral Home & Crematorium, 45901 Victoria Ave, Chilliwack, BC V2P2S9.
