February 20, 1948 - April 11, 2024
It is with heavy hearts that our family announces the passing of Sue Hollingsworth on Thursday, April 11, 2024, at the age of 76. Sue passed away with her family by her side after a courageous battle with cancer, at Cascade Hospice in Chilliwack. Sue was a loving wife, devoted mother, cherished grandmother, and wonderful friend.
Sue was born on February 20, 1948, in Riviere-du-Loup, Quebec. She grew up in Cherryville and Vernon, BC, and graduated from Vernon Secondary School in 1966. After graduation, she pursued her passion for nursing and became a Registered Psych Nurse. Sue married the love of her life, Ron, on April 26, 1969, and was looking forward to celebrating their upcoming 55th wedding anniversary, prior to her passing.
Sue spent a lot of time outdoors. She enjoyed fishing, gardening, golfing, camping, hiking, motorcycling, and spending time with her friends and family. She was fortunate enough to travel to several different counties where she treasured many memories. She made a special trip to Ireland with her brother and sister to find her roots and met several relatives she had never met. Sue’s life was full of fun and laughter. She was a great mother and wonderful grandmother and was very proud of her family. She was a strong person who had a beautiful smile and a huge heart. Throughout her diagnoses and battle she remained positive, brave, and never complained.
Sue was predeceased by her parents John and Susan Michaud, and sister Yvette Miller. She is survived by her husband Ron, her brother John Michaud, her daughters Lisa (Scott) Lindhout and Tammy (Suki) Manj, her four adored grandchildren Jacob, Abby, Aidan and Kiera, as well as cousins, nieces and nephews.
Sue had many friends and family who loved her and she will be deeply missed, however as per her wishes, there will not be any service. She will continue to live in the hearts and souls of everyone she touched. In memory of Sue and in lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial contribution to the Chilliwack Hospice Society.
The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to the doctors, nurses, home care, and volunteers for their kindness, support and care shown to Sue during her illness.
