Joyce was born in Sneek, Netherlands and immigrated with her parents to Stoney Creek, Ontario when she was a young child. Naturally compassionate and nurturing, Joyce eventually became a nurse at St. Joseph’s hospital in Hamilton. This is where she met her adoring husband, Wayne, while caring for his father. Wayne knew he would marry her the moment he met her and proposed in short order. They raised their four children in and around Hamilton before finally settling in British Columbia in 1994, making Chilliwack their home.
Wayne and Joyce were valued members of the Chilliwack Alliance Church as well as Ruth and Naomi’s Mission, where Joyce spent many hours in service to the community’s needy and homeless citizens. She was gentle and kind and happiest when surrounded by her large family, who she adored. Joyce was an amazing Mom, an awesome Grandma, and the best wife a man could ever ask for. We all miss her terribly.
Joyce was predeceased by her parents, Dorothy and George Mollinga and brother Gerrit. She is survived by her devoted husband of 43 years, Wayne, and their children, Scott (Laura), Ken (Kimberly), Joanne Powley (Jon), and Jeff (Darcie). She was beloved Grandma to Lola, Sarah, Ethan and Everleigh. Joyce also leaves behind her siblings, Michael (Laureen), George, Tom, and Dorothy (Jim) Inksetter.
The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. He restores my soul.
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil; for Thou art with me;
Thy rod and thy staff, they comfort me.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life;
And I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever. Psalm 23 (NKJ)
