Joseph came to Canada with the Forestry division of the Sopron University of Hungary in 1956. While attending Mass at Our Lady of Hungary Church, his eye was caught by a beautiful girl, Piroska. They married and lived in Vancouver, where they welcomed three children into the world - Judy, Sandor and Tibor. Together, Joseph and Piroska owned and operated The Little Budapest Restaurant, a favourite among all of the Hungarian community in Vancouver. Their business thrived and they were able to retire early. Their lives were filled with six grandchildren, Matthew, Kaitlin, Richard, Patrick, Steven and Andrew, and recently a great grandchild, Brooklyn. They spent many years caring for their grandchildren. When it was time, they moved to Harrison Hot Springs, where they enjoyed their retirement together. The family all enjoyed visiting them in their beautiful retirement location. Recently, they decided to move to Chilliwack, a move they both welcomed and loved! Joseph loved to connect with his family on Facebook, and through email. He was always the “fixer man.” In fact the grandchildren, when faced with a problem, always said: "Papa can fix it." This has become a term of endearment when speaking of their grandfather. He loved his family both here and in Hungary. There is a huge hole in our hearts but we have many fabulous memories of his life with us. Although he lived a long life, it wasn’t long enough. We will miss you always, Papa.
