He was born April 26, 1928 in North Hampton, IL to Harry and Grace (Stotler) Colwell. He first married Maxine Alton Aug. 21, 1948 in Mossville. She passed away March 5, 1982 in Peoria. He later married Catherine Curless May 10, 1983 in Florence, S.C. She survives alone with six daughters: Beverly (Steve) Ladd of Edelstein, Linda (Marc) Bernabei of Spring Valley, Janice (Ron) King of Quincy, IL, Sharon (Albert) Fuchs of Speer, Roseann (Mick) O'Dea of Princeville, Carolyn (Dick) MacMillan of Sarasota, FL, three sons: Roger (Lorie) Colwell of Elmwood, Douglas Colwell of Peoria, Miles (Trish) Colwell, JR of Edelstein, three step-children: Stephen (Audrey) Curless of Glasford, Diana (Mike) Lammi of Rockford, VIcky Curless of Glasford, twenty-three grandchildren, thirty-four great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren, four step-grandchildren, and four step-great-grandchildren. He is also survived by three sisters: Mary Bireline and June Vonk both of Chillicothe, Nancy (Alvin) Smolinski of Lewistown, Idaho, four brothers: Charles Colwell of Peck, Idaho, Kenneth (Linda) Colwell of Lacon, Wayne (Mary) Colwell of Chillicothe, and Ralph (Jan) Colwell of Genesee, Idaho.
He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife, two step-great-grandchildren, one sister, Bonnie Dick and one brother, Harry Colwell, Jr.
Miles was a Auto Mechanic for many years in the Chillicothe and Princeville area retiring in 1995.
Visitation will be Thursday Sep. 3, 2015 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Davison-Fulton Anderson Chapel in Chillicothe. Funeral Services will be Friday at 2 p.m. at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Blue Ridge Cemetery in Edelstein.
Memorials may be made to the Timber Hollis Fire and Rescue.
