Rosita Gonzalez

Rosita Gonzalez was born on September 28, 1936 in San Lorenzo Puerto Rico and was called home to the Lord on October 3, 2021. She is preceded in death by her mother, Lucia Gonzalez, her father, Hermogenes Montanez, her brothers; Valentin Montanez & Jaime Montanez and sister, Clara Perez. Rosita is survived by her brother, Juan Montanez. Rosita shared her life with her husband, Carmelo Maldonado, whom she loved dearly. Rosita had four children; Carmelo Flores (married to Maria), Albert Flores (married to Sherry), Minerva Velez (married to Carlos) & Dorothy Castillon (married to Alex). She had several grandchildren. Among them are; Carlos Velez Jr. (married to Jeffery), Michelle Velez, Christina Jaramillo (married to Chris), Joshua Flores (married to Mariah), Vincent Flores, Keith Flores, Michael Flores, Allison Flores and Kathleen Flores, Alexandria Castillon, Matthew Castillon, Nick LaPorte, and Lizzie LaPorte. Rosita had several great grandchildren. Among them are; Ariana Jaramillo, Ava Jaramillo, Abram Jaramillo, Amelia Flores, Nayelli Castillon, and Isaiah Castillon.

In her early life Rosita grew up in San Lorenzo, Puerto Rico and eventually relocated to Chicago, Illinois where she worked in many capacities. It was in Chicago where she met Carmelo Maldonado, with whom she shared her life with for many years, and lived in Chicago’s Lakeview neighborhood with her family. Rosita enjoyed shopping for clothes, making frequent trips to the beauty shop, and making large meals for friends and family. No one went hungry around her. Her strength to love and support others through all seasons of life was unmatched. Rosita practiced the Catholic faith, and spent her days loving God and serving others. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother and will be greatly missed by all. Rosita lived a rich and wonderful life until she succumbed to her most recent illness. She was 85 years old.

A visitation for Rosita will be held Sunday, October 10, 2021 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Montclair-Lucania Funeral Home, 6901 West Belmont Ave, Chicago, IL 60634. A visitation will occur Monday, October 11, 2021 from 8:30 AM to 9:00 AM, 6901 West Belmont Ave, Chicago, IL 60634. A committal service will occur Monday, October 11, 2021 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Mount Olive Cemetery, 3800 North Narragansett Ave, Chicago, IL 60634. A funeral service will occur Monday, October 11, 2021 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at St Alphonsus Church, 1429 W. Wellington Ave, Chicago, IL 60657.
