Oi Lon lived a long life. In her 99 years, she survived the Japanese invasion and civil war in China. She came to the United States in 1959 to be reunited with her husband. Oi Lon was always the caretaker, taking care of her in-laws, raising her daughters and caring for her husband in sickness and in health.
Her faith in God gave her the strength to endure difficulties. Soon after arriving in the U.S., Oi Lon met Pastor Peter Fu, who baptized her as a founding member of the Chicago Chinese Baptist Church.
Oi Lon enjoyed a simple life. The highlight of her week was to go to church on Sundays and for special event gatherings. She was always happy being around friends and family, especially enjoyed spoiling her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She will be remembered as a gentle and kind person.
