Michael R. McComb Jr., of Chicago, age 53, passed away peacefully September 22nd surrounded by family and friends in his home. He is preceded in death by his mother Cheryl nee Banker. He leaves behind his beloved father, Michael R. Sr.,Retired CPD Sgt., devoted and loving wife, Kathy nee Heneghan, their amazing children Matthew and Erin, and his loving brother James. He will be missed by so many including his aunts Janice Banker(Jerry) and Jeanine O'Hara (Mike), uncles Joe Walsh (late Bobbie) and Ted Banker (late Pam), cousins BJ, Tina, Bill, Matt, and Jill. He loved his wife's family ( Pat, Theresa, Brian, Sean, Michael, Colleen, Marty, and Moirra) as his own, and they loved him back like a brother. He was proud to be an outlaw with Carol, Mike, Sheila, Maria, Elvia, and Kirk. He loved his nieces and nephews: Owen, Genevieve, Eileen, Megan, Joe, Sean, Kevin, Cecille, Katrina, Evan, Liam, Tristan, and Juliana and his great nieces and nephews: Cydni, Dillon, Ethan, and Josh. Mike was a proud member of Local 399 International Union of Operating Engineers for over 30 years. He worked at the same downtown location for 30 years and will be missed by the 190 crew. Mike was a member of 2 Holy Name Societies, St. Christina and St, John Fisher. He was a beloved basketball coach for both the boy and girl teams at St. John Fisher. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, as well. Misericordia is the charity that he had the most passion for and he was an amazing Candy Day coordinator for 103rd St and Kedzie Ave.
Besides the great love he had for family and friends, he absolutely LOVED 16" softball. He so looked forward to, and enjoyed, the community and sport of those Wednesday, Thursday nights and Sunday afternoons.
When you think of Mike, I hope he brings a smile to your face and laughter from your mouth. Be at peace knowing he is no longer suffering or in pain. We will miss him forever but he will be with those that have gone before us, and we will one day join him in God's Kingdom.
