Just found out today about Johnny. Words can not even begin to explain our broken hearts for you and entire family. 
Johnny you were the best kid in Bedes! The best kid at SFC baseball and made me laugh even when I should have been yelling. We are having soft pretzels and frozen pizza tonight in your honor. RIP Johnny. Mike & Mary I wish I had your number instead of writing this. I’m forever sorry for the loss of Johnny. 

May all of the wonderful memories get us through this dark time. Johnny you are loved by so many people, more then you will ever know. Rest In Peace my beautiful nephew. Love you 💔💔

I will never forget being front office runners senior year of high school & somehow convincing you to live with me and wilson in the triple at EIU... my life has been forever changed since that day. I love you brother, until we meet again.

Johnny may you rest in peace. You and the rest of the Maloneys were one of my favorite St.Bede Families. May God watch over those you have left behind and welcome and comfort you in his ever loving arms. 🐅🐾🏈

 That was our song, we loved, listened to it a million times. I can still hear you singing it to me, I still remember dancing on the grassy hill at Alpine with you, smiling, laughing, you holding me in your arms because thats where I wanted to be. You always let me be where and who I wanted to be. 
 You showed me so many wonderful things about what this life could be. You are one of the ,most genuine people I ever had the honor knowing. You  always had a smile on your face and could always put one on someone else's(especially when they didn't want to)and you always had a bright light shining around you that you would always shine on other people, making their day brighter, you were always a special person.
 You were the first man I ever truly loved and you were the first person who ever truly loved me back. You showed me what love is and how it transforms your life into something magical, something you didn't think could be real. I learned how to open my heart and trust because of the amazing years I spent with you by my side, pouring love out to me everyday. 
You wrote songs for me, sang to me, danced with me, laughed, cried and held my heart so carefully in your talented hands. You always still had a piece of my heart, I hope you carry it with you now. You'll be in my heart forever. Rest easy my dear friend, I love you to the moon and back.

I’m so happy we became friends at EIU. I remember becoming fast friends over our love of music my freshman year. I never did take you up on those guitar lessons, though. 

I can remember a lot of great times we shared in college, especially in B Ridge, and I remember all of them included you making everyone laugh, most of the time uncontrollably. I regret that I didn’t stay in better touch. You left us way too soon.

We didn't see each other often, but I'm so glad we had the chance to chat a few weeks ago. You talked about playing guitar and it reminded me how important it is to pursue the things that you have a passion for. Family parties will never be the same with out you - your kindness and laughter can't be replaced. But we'll carry you with us always, by smiling a little brighter and singing a little louder, knowing you are watching over us all.

Dear Johnny,

My kissing cousin, 

Being less than a month apart, you and I always shared birthday parties together. We bonded over our big brothers always trying to blow out our candles, and I remember I was jealous when you got 5 candles on your cake and I just had one “number 5” candle. Everytime we played together as kids, you went along with whatever Meghan and Katie and I wanted to play. Never complaining or trying to take the reigns, you were always enthusiastic, kind and fun.

As we got older, you’re zeal remained. We had conversations of substance and we genuinely connected about life experiences. You actively inquired and listened about my art with enthusiasm. I appreciated your honesty and openness with me and I wish I could have been there for you when you needed a friend. You’re irreplaceable and you’ll be in my heart forever. I know grandma and grandpa are taking care of you now. I love you so much. 

My deepest sympathy to the families of both Mike and Peggy during this difficult time. It's been eons since our WIU days but wanted you to know I am thinking about you both.

There are countless memories of Johnny, Mickey, Bob and myself playing golf, football, baseball, having sleepovers in our basements, etc. Johnny was always happy, smiling, and just in general great to be around. He wasn't just my cousin but my friend and I'll miss him every day. 

Rest easy Buddy.

Johnny was such a great cousin to me and my family. He was always a great guy to talk to and see at the family parties. I’ll always remember the times he’d come over and we’d play our pianos for the fun of it. I’ll always miss him and never forget him. 

When you become friends with a Maloney, you become part their family, no other option!!!  It’s an honor and a privilege.  My greatest memories of Johnny are at Cara’s Southside Irish Parade parties.  He was the go with the flow kinda guy,  always up for whatever shenanigans we got into.  However, what I will never forget is the way Cara would talk about what an amazing uncle he was, and how much he truly enjoyed being around the kids. The adoration in her voice would melt my heart every time.  ❤️❤️❤️


Johnny, I can’t believe you are gone. We always had fun hanging with you at Christmas or whenever we visited. We always loved seeing you. You have left a huge hole in our hearts. You left us all too soon.  You will be missed forever. Love always. 
I know we live so far away from the ELM Society; but Pj and I think about each of you often. We are sending our love and comforting thoughts. Xo

John was my best friend growing up. We would spend weeks sleeping over and each others houses, playing video games, swimming, jumping on trampoline, go on vacations together etc. He was one of the best people around. I’m going to miss him like crazy. I only managed to find one photo and he’s being classically awkward. You left us way too soon. 

I'm thankful that I saw you so often in the last few weeks.  You were helpful, you made me smile, you made me proud, you made me thankful that you have touched my life.

Johnny, you will forever be in our hearts.  

Your laugh was contagious to all, just your smile and jokes always made my day better and simply your presence was so comforting to me. Our family get together will never be the same anymore. You’ve been there for me through a lot of my ups and downs and vice verse. But I’ve never hurt like this before. I already miss you beyond words Johnny. I love you very much. Keep on playing on 🎶 I’ll see you in my dreams ❤️❤️❤️ I love you cousin. And until we meet again, rest peacefully. 

Johnny was one of the sweetest and kindest little brothers of my best friend. Knowing him since he was born, he had the greatest and most infectious smile, and would do anything for his family, and nieces and nephews. Johnny will be so greatly missed by everyone that knew him. My heart will never be the same without my brother. He was the most genuine person I ever met. May you play in peace and be filled with joy and laughter. You brought so much to everyone you met and I will always cherish our long talks together. Johnny had a love for food, music, and conversation. May we stay connected to all our loved ones the same way. ♥️

Anyone who knew Johnny could tell how important family was to him, and our family is a lesser one without him.   

Words can't express the sorrow I am feeling right now.
Johnny's smile would light up an entire room.   
 We spent a lot of time together the summer he watched my children and totted them all around the Northwest side. 
 I will always remember his love of music whether it was him playing, humming a song to see if I knew the tune or going to concerts with him.  If an extra ticket was out there for the taking Johnny would  be my first call  as he couldn't see or hear enough different bands.
I will miss you dearly.

Even though we have moved, we hold close and cherish the friendships and memories we've made at St. Bedes.  The group of kids my children grew up with at Bedes were the Best!  John, was one of a kind.  He was funny, kind hearted and a great friend.  There was always laughter and goofiness when John was around.  My heart aches for his family and friends.  A young man who left us way too soon, but he will always be remembered.  Luke and Vicki Gasper
