Loving husband (of 75 years) to Shirley June Sobotka (Peterson).

Dad of Mike, Sandy (Jon) Runge, Karen Jo (Steve) Deinzer, and Steve (Judy) Sobotka.

Grandpa of Jon Jr (Julia), Chris, Ellen, Kim (Alfredo) Arellano, the late Kristen. Michael (Melanie), Sarah (Tom Reeves), Ashley (Shaun Bryce), and Breanna (Erik Callaghan).

Great-Grandpa/Papa of Allie, Addison, Andi, Ayden, Caleb, and Mikey.

Uncle, Godfather, and Friend to many. Lifelong resident and retiree of the city of Chicago.

Dido loved life and laughing. He was quite the dancer, whether it was at a wedding or doing the YMCA in his chair. Dancing and singing brought joy to him and those fortunate enough to be near him (and of course he'd make you join in).

He was very much loved and will be forever missed.

A visitation for Edwin will be held Tuesday, November 26, 2024 from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Malec & Sons Funeral Home, 6000 North Milwaukee Ave, Chicago, IL 60646. A visitation & Last Viewing will occur Wednesday, November 27, 2024 from 9:00 AM, at Malec & Sons Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass will occur Wednesday, November 27, 2024 from 10:00 AM at St. Constance Catholic Church, 5843 W. Strong St, Chicago, IL 60630. Interment w at St. Adalbert Catholic Cemetery, Niles, IL 60714.
