Dewellyn Roepenack passed away on December 3, 2016 after a brief battle with ovarian cancer. Prior to this challenge, she enjoyed a long career in Human Resources, specializing in Benefits and Compensation. She actually started her career as a teacher but found many of those skill sets transferred well into her work in Human Resources. She earned her B.A. and M.A. degrees from the University of Illinois at Chicago and an MSIR degree from Loyola University. Her loyalty to the University of Illinois could be seen in her work for many years with the Alumni Association, including a film series she ran on campus and invited professors and Hollywood directors to come and speak about their films. She was a board member of the Chicago Illini Club for 23 years and greatly enjoyed all the events supported by the Club. Her favorite position was that of Director, Benefits and Compensation, for the University's Chicago campus. Dewellyn was the fond twin of Dwight (Carol), younger sister of Marilyn Carter and aunt to Scott, Wes, Mark, Bonnie and Terri. She was preceded in death by her parents, Hazel and Elmer. Visitation will be held on Thursday and Friday from 3-9pm at The Montclair-Lucania Funeral Home 6901 W. Belmont Avenue Chicago, where services will be held 10 a.m. Saturday. Interment to follow at Irving Park Cemetery Chicago. For funeral information 773-622-9300 or www.montclair-lucaniafuneral.com
