Born 1927 in Las Canoas, Guanajuato Mexico, devoted wife of Alberto Zúñiga, loving mother of 10 children, 21 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Baptized Roman Catholic with a great devotion to the Virgin of Guadalupe. Alberto and Cesaria came to Chicago from Mexico in 1960 with 4 children to start a new, better life and by 1969 the family grew to 10 children. They worked hard and saved to buy properties and built a successful real estate business together. Amongst her proudest moments (after the births of her children, grand and great grandchildren) was when her youngest brother, Carmelo was ordained a Catholic priest in 1977 fulfilling a promise made by their father to the Virgin of Guadalupe for saving his life. Another very proud moment in her life was in 1996 when Alberto and Cesaria both became naturalized U.S. citizens. Cesaria made many sacrifices and suffered many hardships during her life for her family and her loved ones and never complained. She instead offered up her pain thru prayers to the Virgin of Guadalupe and always said “Primeramente Dios”, (“God First”). Mama Chalo had a big heart filled with limitless love and always made everyone feel special and welcome. We are all truly blessed to have had her in our lives.
A visitation for Cesaria will be held Sunday, August 28, 2022 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Montclair-Lucania Funeral Home, 6901 West Belmont Ave, Chicago, IL 60634.
