Robert J. Carlson

Robert J. Carlson, age 78, passed away at home on September 11, 2024. Born November 21, 1945 in Cleveland, he was a longtime Chester Twp. resident. Robert was a graduate of Mayfield High School and earned an Associate Degree from Cuyahoga Community College. He was a proud U.S. Army Veteran serving in the Vietnam War. Robert loved watching football on Sunday’s, especially the Cleveland Browns while being a season ticket holder for many years, and also loved being in his yard along with tending to his vegetable garden. He was married to the love of his life Josie for 54 years, and was an amazing father and grandfather that would do anything for family. Robert is survived by his wife Josephine (nee Abate); daughters Laura Sarbach and Renee Dressler (James Denholm); grandchildren Mitchell MacDonald, Justin MacDonald, Hunter Sarbach, Steven Dressler, Brendan Sarbach, and Ryan Dressler; sister Kathy Lamparty (Tom); brother Kurt Carlson (Kimberly); and many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, cousins, nieces, and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents Norman and Jean (nee Howe) Carlson; and son-in-law Steve Dressler. Family and friends may call at Gattozzi and Son Funeral Home, 12524 Chillicothe Rd., Chesterland on Monday 5 – 8 pm. Graveside Service 1:00 pm Tuesday, September 17, 2024 at Western Reserve Memorial Gardens, 11521 Chillicothe Rd., Chesterland. (Please meet at the cemetery.)
