He was born February 24, 1945 in Cleveland.
Richard and his father, Vern, established Misty Morn Farm,
raising and showing registered Welsh Ponies for over 50
years. With the addition of his daughter, Ashley, they raised
numerous National Champion ponies. Most notably, Rich
was the 1st American to ever win the Gentlemen's Driving
Class at the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair in Toronto,
Canada. Rich was able to take his passion for ponies and
turn it into a highly successful, life long career as a farrier
in which he served many equestrian facilities in the area.
He is survived by his daughter, Ashley Petersen;
grandson, Brady Villers; siblings, Jerry (Kathy) Petersen,
Joyce Hoge, and Gordon (Marian) Petersen.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Willa and Vern
Petersen; and, brother, Steve.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, 5:00 to 8:00 pm at Gattozzi
and Son Funeral Home, 12524 Chillicothe Road, Chesterland.
A Service of Remembrance will be held at 1:00 pm,
Wednesday, December 9, 2015 at the funeral Home. Burial
will be at Western Reserve Memorial Gardens, Chester
Township.
