Kalal, Michael C (Sir), called home to God November 11, 2022. Married to his best friend Amy (Cooper) in 1979. Born to Emil J. (deceased) & Dorothy A. (nee Wlotzko) on September 6, 1955, he was the 4th of 8 children. Brother to Jim (Theresa), John (Noella), Diane Klingler (Ken), Nancy Mancini (Mike), Tim (Brenda), Barb Wojchiehowski (Mark), and Paul (Holly). Brother-in-law to Gail (nee Cooper) Hutchison (Michael), Cathy (nee Cooper) Berringer (Carl), Vern Cooper ( Jeanie Cheoweth), Janet (nee Cooper) Taylor (David) , Step-son of Alex Stem (deceased), Step-brother to Susie Veverka (Tom) and Joyce Smith. Brother-in-law to Katherine McCristall (Tim). He was Godfather to Jeff Kalal, Karen Mendella, Jennifer Mancini. He was also, a Nephew, Uncle, Great Uncle and cousin to many, and a friend to all whom he met. He graduated from Garfield Heights High School in 1973 and from Tri-C in 1975 with an Associates of Science & Applied Business degree in Culinary Arts. Michael started out as a cook at Broglio’s Restaurant while going to college, Michael also worked for many years at Gilmour Academy and in many positions; Head Chef, Certified School Bus Driver, Certified Systems Maintenance Technician, Zamboni Driver (building and ice maintenance for the ice arena), Certified Pool & Spa Operator; Notre Dame Cathedral Latin (bus driver and maintenance), Berkshire Local Schools (bus driver) and The Pond (building and ice maintenance for the ice arena). However his biggest job, AND most important was to help his fellow man. Always looking out for those in need whether you had 2 feet, 4 feet, wings or fins, whatever you needed, he was there. Michael was truly a kind and humble man. Michael (PGK, FDD, PFN, PCP) served in the Knights of Columbus (Geauga Council 3304) where he was PGK. He served as a 4th Degree Sir Knight in the Cardinal Newman Assembly 937. Michael had been appointed District Deputy for 4 years. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus Greater Cleveland Chapter for the Diocese of Cleveland. Michael loved life and lived it to the fullest, always working hard as well as playing hard. He was always willing to pitch in to get a job done. He lived his life by a great creed: ABCD (Above and Beyond the Call of Duty). His sports career went from playing on a Men’s Softball League in Richfield, Ohio for over 20 years, bowling in North Royalton and Southgate, Burton Horseshoe Pitching League as well as pick-up games of touch football with the guys, racquet ball and any other sport he could participate in. Michael was also a member of the NHPA (National Horseshoe Pitching Association). Michael will be missed by a lot of people, but his job on earth was done, and God needs him now more than we need him.
