Most recently she resided at the Ohman Family Living at Holly Hill where she enjoyed many different activities and friends. Carol was born in Cleveland on April 26, 1926 to the late Ernest and Florence Brooker. She was the beloved wife of the late Robert White; loving mother to Kathy Kuhar (Frank), Marsha White, Pat Brockway (Larry), Barb Van Etten (David) and Roberta Codney (Jim). Carol was the adoring grandmother to Frank Kuhar, Emily Kuhar (deceased), Ben Kuhar, Diane Brockway (deceased), Mike Brockway, Sue Brockway, Eriksen Van Etten, Brigham Van Etten, Connor Van Etten, Devon Macaluso (Codney), Madison Deen (Codney), Richard Codney, David Codney, and Graham Codney; and a great-grandmother; sister to the late Kenneth Brooker, late Jean Coughlin, and late Alice Kimball.
Carol’s childhood summers were spent going to the lake cottage in Canada which she continued to do throughout her life with her family and friends. Even at 75 years old she could be seen waterskiing around the Kawarthas. Carol loved raising her five daughters while working parttime as a bookkeeper and a telephone operator at Hillcrest Hospital. She was an avid bowler for over 30 years and won “Beat the Champ” on television. It did not matter if it was a lunch, a trip to Drug Mart, or over 25 years driving to Florida she liked to “go, go, go”. Carol had a lifelong passion for automobiles so much so that at 80 years old she bought a cherry red Mustang convertible. Carol cherished her friends at Arbor Glen, Hamlet Hills, and Ohman Family Living. She always enjoyed dinner at her daughters’ homes or Empress Court (coffee needed to be hot) topped off by a drive to the ice cream store to get her signature flavor, “butter pecan”. In her later years, nothing was more important to her than being around people, laughing, and sporting one of her many baseball caps.
A “Celebration of Carol’s Life” will be held on Monday November 21st, 2022 with a graveside service at All Soul’s Cemetery at 11:15am (Please Meet at the cemetery gates). Contributions in Carol’s honor would be welcome at the Hospice of the Western Reserve, P.O. Box 72101, Cleveland, OH 44192 or click on the link below.
