Mary"Beth" Elizabeth Coulter

Mary Elizabeth “Beth” Coulter, of Chattanooga, TN, passed away peacefully after a short, aggressive fight with Intimal Sarcoma, an extremely rare form of cancer. She was only 44 years old. Beth was born on May 03, 1979, in Chattanooga, TN to Bobby and Kay (Stocker) Spangler.

Beth completed high school in 1995 and immediately went to work. She always attributed her work ethic to her daddy because she couldn’t remember a time where he didn’t have a job or work full-time. Although Beth never attended college, anyone that met her in the professional world would have thought differently. She was the epitome of professional, a subject matter expert in all career roles, and always dressed to impress. Much of her career was spent in multi-family residential property management. She rose through the ranks of Leasing Agent, to Assistant Manager, and finally into Community Director roles across multiple properties. She left property management in 2019, finding a role as the Corporate Listing Manager of the Relocation Department of Crye-Leike, Realtors. She found this role to be more fulfilling due to the relationships she was able to build while growing the business. She loved educating and coaching the realtors she partnered with on the proper guidelines of relocation, and she loved so many of the people she worked with.

More than just a career professional, Beth was a daughter, a wife, a mother, and a friend. There was never anything more important than her role as a mother. Her girls were all she thought about regardless of the time of day or year. She constantly looked for things that she could send them to let them know how special they were; sometimes a funny meme or TikTok, and other times a unique card or gift. Beth didn’t do anything without making it absolutely perfect, even if it meant buying something and returning it a few times. As a daughter, Beth strived to make her parents proud in all that she did, at work and at home. She would spend hours sitting in her momma’s sewing room, with her mom, Kay, who was more than a mom, but one of her very best friends. Beth would insist on volunteering for everything she could think her daddy might need some assistance with, just so he wouldn’t have to work any harder at home than he already did at work. She was the absolute best friend. One that would never let you make silly choices without absolutely knowing the consequences of them. She would still be the ear they needed, the shoulder to cry on, the smile to bring joy to their day, or the laugh over the funniest of jokes. As a wife, Beth gave everything; sacrifice, support, thoughtfulness, consideration, sadness, laughter, and most especially love. She was the quintessential “partner-in-crime,” and was up for whatever, even though she wasn’t thrilled about spontaneity.

Beth was the life of any party or work function, and always talked to everyone. She never wanted someone to feel left out in any way, and that is how she built some of her best friendships. To know her was to love her, even when it was a random meeting at a work function. If you ask anyone who has ever met her, they will tell you her smile was the brightest in the room and that she left a lasting impression on them forever more and they are better for knowing her. She will be missed by many and we pray her light continues to warm us from above.

Beth was predeceased by her grandparents Melvin and Ruth Spangler, and Billy Joe Stocker.

She is survived by her loving husband of 10 years, Charles Jason Coulter of Chattanooga, TN; four daughters, Victoria Taylor Lunsford, Alexandria Tyan Coulter, Riley Ruth Coulter, and Elizabeth Charlie Rose Coulter; parents, Bobby and Kay Spangler; brother Lee Spangler; grandmother, Virginia Ann Orrell; and granddaughter, Aubree Kay Lunsford.

A visitation and service will be held at Advantage Funeral & Cremation Services-Franklin – Strickland Chapel (1724 McCallie Ave., Chattanooga, TN 37404) on Saturday, October 7th, 2023. Visitation will be from 1-3pm with the service following thereafter.
