She was born in New Bedford, Massachusetts and was preceded in death by her father, Ralph Ellsworth Nelson; mother, Barbara Wiehl Nelson; son, Keith Nelson Goodhue, and companion, Fenway.
She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Kenneth Gifford Goodhue of Chattanooga, TN; sons, Kenneth Gifford Goodhue, Jr. (Julie) of Spring, TX and Tague Robert Goodhue (Colleen) of Signal Mountain, TN; grandchildren, Barbara Goodhue LaFountain, Kenneth Gifford Goodhue III, Bronte Marie Goodhue, Brighton Shaw Goodhue; and great grandchildren, Charlotte Kate Goodhue and John Henry Goodhue.
Midge graduated from New Bedford High School in 1960 and married her high school sweetheart. Following Ken’s graduation from New Bedford Tech they moved to Naugatuck, CT, Willingboro, NJ, Chattanooga, TN, Cherry Hill, NJ and to Chattanooga, TN for the last 44 years. During this time, Midge was a true partner to Ken in his life and work and traveled with him extensively, making friends wherever she went. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother to family and a dear friend to all. Midge was clever, loving and always the best dressed person in the room.
After becoming an accomplished tennis player, she took up golf with her husband and won the Honors Course Ladies Member Guest Tournament. Midge served on boards of the United Way and Manker Patten Tennis Center and served as President of the Book Club.
